It’s late here, and I’m waiting for the laundry to dry so I can sleep. My youngest turns a year older tomorrow, and all she wanted was a Moana birthday. It seemed simple enough, until she asked me personally to make the cake.
Now, I can bake with the best of them, but decor that included fondant… I wasn’t’ so sure. But it’s for the kidlet, so I put on my big girl pants, scoured the web, rounded up the ingredients, and gave it a go.
I’ll admit this was fun! I had a blast trying fondant out for the first time. Mixing the colors and kneading it until it was the right shade and consistency made me feel like a real baker. It was also time consuming. You need to carve out a good 2-3 hour block. Of course, I was mixing two concepts together and winging it with new techniques. I also didn’t have time savers like the wheel…. One day.
In the end, I’m really happy with the final results.
A huge shout out to the two cake geniuses who helped me.
